There's something for everyone at Resica Falls! Our campers have the opportunity to enjoy a tremendous array of activities and programs, all under the instruction and supervision of our amazing staff. Check out some of the activities below that we offer during our summer camp season.
Resica Falls is proud to continue our Dan Beard First Year Camper Program. This program focuses on teaching the skills necessary for Scout through First Class. Skill sessions focus on scout skills, first aid, citizenship, and swimming. Scouts also have the opportunity to participate in a 5 mile hike and overnighter.
New to Resica Falls in 2016 is our ATV program. Spend the week riding around the reservation on one of our state-of-the-art ATVs! Scouts must be 14 years of age or older to participate in this exciting program. Throughout the week-long session, you will learn the fundamentals of riding under the supervision of a certified instructor. Scouts begin riding on the first day, and by the end of the week will be riding like pros!
Want to try something different in the afternoon? Join the High Five Adventure Club and be ready to explore the secrets that Resica Falls has to offer. Scouts aged 13 and up will be given the opportunity to go on a different adventure around Resica Falls each afternoon that you decide! Possible excursions include:
Aquatics at Resica is fun for everyone! The pool in camp is equipped with a three-story water slide that all scouts can enjoy. In addition to canoeing, kayaking, and sailing on Lake Roger, campers have the chance to get wet on the Wibit attraction, that includes a blob and trampoline!
In 2016, we brought our Handicraft Lodge closer to the heart of camp. The building is now located across from the Mohawk Campsite along the camp road. The state of the art building has ample covered seating. In addition to Art, Basketry, Fingerprinting, Leatherwork, Pulp and Paper, Textile and Wood Carving, we added Pottery and Sculpture merit badges!
In 2016, Big Springs Camp expanded its STEM Center unlike ever before! In order to maximize our science program, the STEM Center is located in The Great Bend, by the Great Bend Shower House. Badges offered include Chemistry, Digital Technology, Electricity, Electronics, Engineering, Movie Making, Photography, Radio, Robotics and Space Exploration! Make sure you stop by the STEM Center to earn a badge, or just find out more information about the program!
Project COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) is a unique personal development program composed of climbing, rappelling, and problem solving in both low-course and high-course settings. COPE is unique to the participants and tests them individually and as part of a group. The aims of COPE are communication, planning, trust, teamwork, leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, self-esteem, and fun. These goals are worked towards through the program in initiative games, trust events, and a high ropes course.
Our Native American Village was first constructed in 2012 with support from Unami Lodge, One. Using the history of the Lenni Lenape and of the Village of Ressaca, we are excited to offer Indian Lore, Archeology and Fly Fishing Merit Badges. This will give Scouts the opportunity to learn about the history of Native Americans, as well as the history of Ressaca and how to go on archeology digs to find relics in other communities.
Put your outdoor skills to the test at scoutcraft! Scouts have the opportunity to earn many badges, including Backpacking, Camping, Cooking, Geocaching, Hiking, Orienteering, Pioneering, Search & Rescue, and Wilderness Survival. Whether it's building a monkey bridge or whipping up a dish in a dutch oven there's always something exciting going on in Scoutcraft.
A full complement of shooting activities are available at our multiple ranges, including: shotgun, rifle, chalkball, archery, action archery and sporting arrows. Our certified instructors wok with the scouts to ensure each scout has the opportunity to complete their badges. Troops at Resica can also reserve the ranges for troop shoots.
Become one with nature at our Ecology Center. Our knowledgeable staff will help you learn more about the world around you and a scout's responsibility in the outdoors. Whether it's Fish and Wildlife Management or Oceanography there's something for everyone at Ecology!
Scouts keep moving at Resica, as they have fun at our human foosball court, blacktop basketball court, GaGa pit, and many other exciting athletic features. Our knowledgeable sports staff offer badges in Athletics, Sports, Game Design, Personal Fitness, and Skating. We also offer bikes to be rented to get around camp during the day, or for your troop to take on a trip.
